Just a thought: On Thursday 23rd May at Holy Communion we sang the hymn ‘When a knight won his spurs’ as a tribute to Dave. It was one of his favourite hymns he chose at Songs of Praise events we used to have. The words: “he was gentle, brave, gallant and bold for God and for valour” and in the last verse “Let faith be my shield” sum up Dave’s character. David, I will always hold a special place in my heart for you for being the best chair of governors any headteacher could ask for. You were committed to the role, knowledgeable and challenging but most of all, supportive. Whenever I needed advice, a shoulder to hold me up or an ear to bend you were there whether in person, on the phone, or by email. I am so sad not to be able to attend your farewell from this life as I will be in Cornwall but I will certainly find somewhere quiet and think of you at the appropriate time.
